Pharmacy Manager Role:
The Pharmacy Manager ensures that the pharmacy operates in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This role involves overseeing compounding and dispensing prescribed medications, providing functional supervision to professional and support staff, and performing related duties as required. Future responsibilities may include infusion services, sterile preparations, and compounding.
Maintain records of all pharmacy transactions to ensure accurate control and accountability for medications, adhering to state and federal laws.
Ensure that the pharmacy meets all inspection requirements and operates legally.
Accurately fill prescriptions for pharmaceutical preparations and devices for patients.
Maintain detailed records, submit claims for third-party reimbursement, and consult with healthcare professionals on pharmaceutical queries.
Provide advice on formulary medications and cost-effective therapies.
Supervise professional, paraprofessional, and support staff in the pharmacy.
Responsibilities include training, assigning duties, and contributing to performance evaluations.
Document and report medication errors, implementing strategies to reduce and prevent future errors.
Maintain an accurate error log and adherence log.
Manage packing and unpacking of specialty medications.
Handle controlled substance returns in collaboration with another pharmacist.
Create and send order breakdowns.
Prepare and manage error and accuracy logs.
Oversee temperature and cleaning logs.
Maintain on-call logs and track measurements for regulatory requirements.
Conduct and document third-party pharmacy audits.
Oversee newsletter responsibilities and assist with clinical patient assessments.
Collaborate on the upkeep of pharmacy platforms.
Order necessary supplies and manage drug ordering processes.
Participate in on-call rotation, weekly trash rotation, and handle fax machine duties.
Contribute to monthly patient education topics and engage in ongoing training programs.
Uphold federal and state laws, adhering to the highest ethical standards as a fundamental responsibility.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Protect the organization by adhering to professional standards, company policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.
