Women’s History Month: Q&A with Sherrie Dvorak

For Women’s History Month, Frontline Source Group Holdings is highlighting the work of an incredible member of our team, Sherrie Dvorak. Sherrie is a Certified Recruiting Professional with over 17 years of experience in the staffing industry and a graduate of Assumption University and The University of Dallas.

Tell us the story of your career up to this point.

I went to college for psychology and quickly realized that was not the path I wanted to take — research was not my jam. I worked retail while going to school at night for my MBA, and HR was really the focus I wanted to get into.

I had an opportunity to meet Bill and almost 18 years later, the rest is history.

Who are your role models or people who have inspired you in your career?

I think I need to go back to the very beginning, and as cliche as it sounds, it’s all about my mom. She was a nurse by education and by practice she got into management.

When it comes down to a career and work-life balance, she ended up creating her own company, so she could take care of me and my sisters. She had this little driving force behind her which I found to be inspiring.

What advice do you have for women who are beginning their careers?

I’m lucky enough to have fallen into recruiting. Most people don’t grow up and say, ‘I’m going to be a recruiter.’

I would advise women to not turn away from something indefinitely because you never know what’s out there and you never know what path is going to be carved for you. We’ve had some stellar employees who never grew up thinking that recruiting was a path they were going to take — but here they are!

I would say to be open to opportunities, make sure to listen well, learn as much as possible and see what’s out there.
We’ve had people come in as recruiters and realize it’s not the path for them, but it did direct them to a path that was ultimately successful. They wouldn’t have had that opportunity had they not started in recruiting.

What is the best piece of advice you have received in your career?

You might not necessarily be qualified to do something today, but when you have the opportunity to give something new a try, go for it.

How do you strive to support women in your role at Frontline Source Group Holdings?

I’m watching the way our team has developed, and women generally do very well in recruiting.

My goal is to give them the tools they need to go in and be successful and make it their own.
